FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What should I do prior to your resurfacing technician arrival?

We require all shower screens and plastic soap bars to be removed and the wall behind to be in good clean condition. If you are unable to do this yourself, you may request that our operator remove these items for you, but the operator cannot be held responsible for any damage that may be caused. As sometimes these items have been in place for many years and can be difficult to remove. Please note that we are not responsible for the re-installation of any removed fittings. Also it is extremely helpful to remove any non fitted bathroom furniture, all toiletries and personal items from the bathroom.

When do I need to resurface, reenamel my bath?

You bath needs to be resurfaced when the enamel coat has worn thin and you can feel pitting – series of very small holes – or roughness. If the bath has truly lost its shine or is badly scratched, or you want to change the colour, then we highly recommend you a full resurfacing service. Inspect your bath to get a better idea of its condition then give us a call to find out about the best course of action.

I’m not sure if my bath just needs a good clean.

Many baths become coated in dirt and lime-scale and minor scratches over a number of years, even with regular cleaning. This can cause light roughness and discolouration. If this is the case and the surface is still in good condition, we offer a stain removal and polishing process to restore the smoothness and shine.

Can I stop the rust in my buthtub by resurfacing?

If your bathtub has chips in it, or rust around the outlet, or areas where the surface is worn to the metal; then these areas must be repaired first before any re-surfacing work takes place.

The re-surfacing will only last if these areas have been repaired first.

Painting the outside of your bath.

If you have a roll-top style of bath, then usually the outside of the bath is painted, often in a strong, bold colour. The specialist materials we use for the inside of the bath are not required, although if we do the outside for you we will use these materials.

This is something you can do yourself as the finish on the outside is not as critical as on the inside. After all, you are not going to be sitting naked on the outside. Nor is it going to be getting immersed in water.

If you do plan on doing the outside yourself, we recommend not using a high gloss finish as the outside of a cast iron bath is often quite rough and pitted and a glossy finish will just highlight this. A satin finish should look much better.

Also, doing the feet in a different colour helps to draw attention to them, and if you have clawed feet or the like – some of these baths can have quite impressive feet with a surprising amount of detail – then a different colour is really worth considering.

Or, if you prefer, we can do it for you.
